Our Favourite Banana Bread

This banana bread recipe is so delicious it might just be the last banana bread recipe you ever need.


  • 1 + 2/3 cup of flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon (our secret ingredient)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil (or light flavoured oil)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp plain greek yogurt (you can swap for sour cream or buttermilk)
  • 4 over ripe bananas*

*If you use frozen bananas, after they come to room temperature, drain the excess water before mashing them

Make this banana bread recipe in 10 easy steps:

  1. Pre-heat oven to 325F
  2. Whisk together flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon in a medium bowl, set aside.
  3. In a larger bowl, beat the eggs and sugar together until light and frothy.
  4. Slowly add oil while mixing on low.
  5. Add vanilla and greek yogurt, mix until just combined.
  6. Peel bananas into a liquid measuring cup (remove excess liquid first). Mash bananas and add to wet mixture.
  7. Add well combined dry ingredient mixture to wet mixture. Mix until just combined and no dry flour streaks remain.
  8. Pour into a lightly oiled loaf pan (I used 9" x 5") lined with a parchment paper sling.
  9. Bake for 55-65 min or until a toothpick or wooden skewer comes out clean when inserted into centre of the bread.
  10. Let cool for 10-15 min before slicing into it

Optional Add-ins (add between step 7 and 8):

  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped toasted walnuts or pecans
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries dusted in flour (note: baking time will increase when adding fruit).
